Empowering Parents to take the lead in their children's education

Homeschool Cooperative Academy

Education God’s Way!

Our Academy functions and operates as a Homeschool Cooperative with enrollment categories described as Cooperative Education Tiers (CETs).

What is a Homeschool Cooperative?

A homeschool cooperative is a group of parent educators coming together to provide academic, social, spiritual, economic, cultural needs and enrichment opportunities for their children.

What are Cooperative Education Tiers?

Cooperative (also know as co-op) Education Tiers (CETs) are the autonomous levels of our operational structure within the school.

We offer 2 main Cooperative Programs: Tradition that offers 3 levels of CETs and CHESS Cooperative Learning Coalition (umbrella program) that offer many great benefits for homeschoolers.

Perspective Students (full time enrollment)

Active-Homeschoolers (part time enrollment)

Enrichment Co-op (all students)

Umbrella Program

Ky’Ijel Group Christian academy was originally founded in 2004 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as a ministry outreach for out-risk youth. In 2006, God impressed upon our hearts to pull our daughter out of public school and homeschool her. Then the summer of 2007, the Holy Spirit led us to start an evangelistic homeschool academy that opened it doors August 13, 2007. The school's mission encompasses Bible-based teaching with a Christ-centered worldview, promoting academic excellence, youth discipleship and character building, empowering parents and igniting a sense of community.

We believe that the ultimate responsibility for the education of children belongs to parents (Deuteronomy 4:9, 6:1-25, and 4:1-4) and is an inalienable right given by God, which the State cannot create, destroy, or alter. Parents may allow another to teach some of the cognitive information that children need to know, however, all education must be under the ultimate control and supervision of the parents (Proverbs 22:6).

We believe education in the home (done by the parent) to be the BEST form of education, but we recognize that many parents cannot educate at home for valid reasons and support the right of parents to send their children to school. We further recognize that because of economic or other reasons, a parent or guardian may have no other alternative but to place a child in a public or private school. Although this is acceptable in society, we do not, however, support public education because of their ostensible, secular-humanistic philosophy of education. Therefore, our school’s philosophy is to Empower “YOU” to take back the responsibly of educating your child.

We accomplish this by offering two programs:

1). Tradition. This program provides parents the opportunity to give their children a great education in a home away from home environment. Through this concept of cooperative individualization, children experience the sense of community, self-discipline, mastery-based achievement, motivation, enriched educational advantages of a Christ-like home-school atmosphere. Our curriculum, “A.C.E. stands out from other curriculum providers with its individualized, self-instructional, mastery-based approach. With minimal assistance, PACEs allow students to absorb subject material according to their own learning ability rather than being pushed forward or held back by their age.”

2). Umbrella/Satellite Program. In an effort to assist and empower parents and our community in homeschooling and educating future generations, we have extended and streamlined our homeschool organization by offering an umbrella program, called CHESS Cooperative Coalition (CCC) for homeschoolers, prospective homeschoolers, and community and ministry leaders alike, primarily in the state of Illinois, Louisiana and Indiana. This program can help organize, develop and establish a homeschooling plan that’s unique to your family. Those that take part in CCC will be designated as Cooperative Parent or Community Partners (CPP/CCP). We will help facilitate a seamless cooperative learning experience alongside you, your children and the community, allowing you the education autonomy and support needed to teach children in the way that best works for the entire family and gives glory to God.

We recognize that in order to be prosperous in this life our children need a strong foundation in Jesus Christ and support from both the home and school. We know a strong relationship with Christ and parental involvement is the KEY that will make ALL the difference in a child's development.  As cooperative partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s academic success and spiritual growth and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. Ultimately, we desire to set the stage for cohesive involvement that seeks to duplicate the know-how and will-power back into the hands of the parents.

KGCA and CHESS recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each child, therefore, is dedicated to work alongside parents by providing needed resources in aiding children to succeed to the next academic level with the guided strength of biblical principles, affordable education and know-how.
