Elements of Art 1st & 2nd
This year our budding artists will explore a variety of mediums, such as tempera and acrylic paint, oil and chalk pastel, watercolor, and clay. Many lessons will focus on geometric designs, abstract art, and project based activities. There will be lots of drawing, loads of painting, learning about new supplies, and a fun place for the kids to be their creative selves.
Some days will be messy. While we do have paint shirts, it is highly recommend the students do not wear their best outfits.
My name is Carissa Parr and I have been teaching at CHSEL since 2017. I began homeschooling in 2004, and currently have a senior and 7th grader at home. My hobby turned into a small side business of teaching art to elementary age children, which I find is a beautiful way to spend time. I also teach science classes, as well as reading, history and geography courses to the upper grades. In addition to being a part of CHSEL, I teach art at Eagle’s Nest After School Care, and also part of the childcare staff at Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont.
