Botany for Middle School

Get ready to grow!

This year our middle school students will engage in experiments about how to grow food.  We will explore a variety of elements related to Botany, including:

USDA Geographical Growing Zones

Choosing and Purchasing Seeds

Planting and Germination

Plant Specific Nutrients

Health Benefits of Plants

Soil Building and Upkeep

Harvesting and Processing

We will have our hands in the dirt more times than not, and will also be outdoors quite often.  Space permitting, we will create a CHSEL growing space to grow small crops, and record findings week to week. It is my hope that the students will develop an appreciation of the garden, and the work that it takes to keep it alive.
