FAQs

Q:

When and where does ESMM meet?

A:

ESMM gathers for community & classes on Tuesdays (10am-3pm) from October - May, in a wonderful, large space in Brunswick. We also organize gatherings throughout the summer for members to get together. Our teens have a thriving social life- with many outings and evenings planned year round.

Q:

What types of classes are offered?

A:

Class offerings are dependent on what parents (and teens!) have volunteered to teach. Each 8-week session has a variety of classes for all age groups (ie: preschool to high school). Past sessions have included art (painting, drawing, clay sculpting, wool felting, sewing), theater, outdoor skills, cooking, archery, math games, robotics, creative writing, psychology, choir, entomology, computer programming, ukulele, yoga, motion science, Spanish, and much more.

Q:

What is the age range?

A:

ESMM typically has 30-40 member families annually, with children ranging from newborn to 18 years old.

Q:

What will a typical day at ESMM look like?

A:

ESMM members will arrive at 9:30 am to help set up our rental building. Two classes are held from 10:00-11:00 and 11:00-12:00, then we break for lunch from 12:00-1:00. There are two more classes from 1:00-2:00 and 2:00-3:00, then members put away chairs and tables and clean up. ESMM does not have "drop-off" classes - all children must have their parent(s) or other responsible adult at the building for the day.

Q:

What does it cost to join ESMM?

A:

Membership fees are $200 for the 2018-2019 year. This price is per family. Some teachers may also require a small fee to cover the cost of supplies for a particular class.

Q:

How much of a time commitment should I expect as a member?

A:

ESMM runs on the energy if its members. Families have many volunteering options to choose from, so all members can contribute according to their strengths. All parent members are required to volunteer a minimum of three hours each Tuesday - teaching classes, assisting classes, monitoring the outdoor spaces and/or helping in the infant/preschool room. In addition, all members must help set up our space in the mornings and clean our space in the afternoons.
