Back-to-School Picnic: A time of fellowship with old friends and to meet new homeschooling families. It is a potluck meal and a meeting to discuss activities and jobs for the new school year. Playtime for the kids!
Christmas Party: A time for families to fellowship together in December. Includes a potluck meal, craft for the children, gift exchange, and a collection for a local charity.
Homeschool Gym: Monthly physical fitness activities that cover a whole range of fitness and sports for students. It is also an opportunity for fellowship.
Educational Co-op: An opportunity for our kids, preschool – high school to learn from “other” teachers (homeschool parents and others) sharing their time and talents one morning a week for 6 weeks.
Science Fair: Practice your public speaking and share your scientific discoveries in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
Achievement Testing: The opportunity for our children to take the required standardized tests for 3rd, 5th and 8th graders in a location and among people they are familiar with, rather than having to take them at a public school or other place.
Field Trips: Trips are normally arranged by interested parents for the whole group. Travels to various locations of interest and education.
Spelling Bee: A spelling bee for student’s to participate in at their grade level.
Recognition Night: An opportunity for our children to share their God-given talents in a variety of ways with an appreciative audience, and gain confidence in public appearances for future roles as God’s ambassadors. We also recognize our graduates at this time.
JCCH Website: A website containing announcements, homeschool news, updates, a calendar, and, sometimes, artistic submissions by our students.
Yearbook: A photo scrapbook of the school year with a special section for graduating seniors.
Student Socials: Families are encouraged to host fellowship events for children of a particular age or gender (e.g. a tea for elementary girls or a sports day for junior high boys). These events are advertised through JCCH materials.
Fund Raising: JCCH sponsors events to help raise funds to supplement the cost of activities.
Box tops for education: JCCH participates in this program to help raise funds for group activities.
Field Day: An annual event held in May where the children compete in several athletic games. Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are given and there is also a potluck meal.
End-of-the-Year Picnic: The group holds a final fellowship picnic in late May or early June. It is a potluck meal with playtime for the kids.
