Additional Information

What is ParentSchool? It's an opportunity for Heritage parents to get together and learn from one another in ways that will enhance our homeschools and households.

This special ParentSchool session will focus on Human Trafficking Awareness.

Did you know that...

>>> 37% of sex trafficking victims are recruited online?

>>> 68% of girls have reported at least one incident of cyber sexual harrassment?

>>> Sex trafficking has been reported in 145 out of 159 counties in Georgia?

>>> The average age of sex trafficking victims is 11-14 years old?

Despite these disturbing facts, PARENTS are the #1 deterrent to predators, and we're bringing in an outside speaker to help train us on how to protect our precious children. Our sponsor for this ParentSchool is Rescuing Hope, a nonprofit in Cobb County whose mission is to enlighten the public about sex trafficking in America, educate potential victims and first responders, and empower advocates and survivors.

  1. Part One: The first part of the call will be an important discussion for ALL parents (mothers and fathers) with children of every age as we become more aware of how our children can be targeted online and in person.
  2. Part Two: The second part of the evening is open to all but is specifically intended for parents of 11-13 year olds. Rescuing Hope has developed a free fully digital curriculum to equip middle schoolers with the knowledge they need to stay safe.  It was designed with language arts standards in mind, contains videos and interactive assignments, requires no teacher training, and lessons produce written work that can be graded, if you wish to do so.

Evening schedule:

  • 7:00pm - 8:15pm - Part One (presentation and discussion for ALL parents)
  • 8:15pm - 8:45pm - Part Two (targeting parents with kids 11-13 years old but open to all)
