FAQs

Q:

What is BRIGHT?

A:

We're a homeschool cooperative located in New Jersey's Somerset County, organized to provide home education families an opportunity to enrich or supplement their children's academic curriculum and social experience within the context of a Christian-based group. We are registered with HSLDA for homeschool group discount membership.teacher with the subject matter of the class.

Q:

When and where do you meet?

A:

We meet each Wednesday at 9 am at the Zarephath Christian Church Children's Ministry Center on Weston Canal Road off Route 287, Exit 12.

Q:

What classes are offered?

A:

BRIGHT's classes are parent-initiated and parent-led (that means led by YOU and ME!). The current year's classes are listed in a separate link.

Q:

What does it cost?

A:

The initial once-a-year registration fee is $20.  After that, each family is required to pay $33/month in three-month increments.  An insurance fee (to be determined) will be required with your registration.

Q:

How can I find out more and contact someone?

A:

First, read BRIGHT's information on the sidebar (Bylaws, BRIGHT's House Rules, etc) to consider if we are a good match for you and your family. Then simply begin by filling out the online Request Information form. The director will contact you and go over the application process with you. Beginning the registration process in no way obligates you; it is just the best way for us to initially hear from you. Please note we are not accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year.

Q:

Who teaches BRIGHT's classes?

A:

Classes are formed by a parent volunteering to teach a subject and then submitting a proposal to the board. After board approval, the class will be put on a sign-up board, where we can see the interest level in the class. The teacher will need to write a detailed class description, which will go on the website after the schedule is written.

Q:

How many students are in each class?

A:

The maximum class size is proposed by the teacher and approved by the board. We try to keep our classes small, especially for the elementary grades.
