FAQs

Q:

What is Hemet Christian Homeschool Families?

A:

Hemet Christian Homeschool Families is a Christ-centered community of homeschool families that seek to encourage each other on our homeschool journeys. Field trips, park days, dances, youth activities, preschool groups, and holiday parties are examples of some of the fun activities we have.  We have a graduation ceremony and promotion at the end of the year for Kindergarten graduation, middle school and high school promotion, and high school graduation. Members are encouraged to organize and plan activities to help make this group active and fun! As a member, you can also join our co-op which provides academic and enrichment classes.

Q:

How do I join the group?

A:

We're so glad you want to join us! You can click the "Join" link at the top of this website to fill out your application. We will contact you after we receive your application to set up an in-person meet and greet before we approve your membership. You will also need to pay the $60 annual membership fee.  Once approved you will be able to take full advantage of the group events and website.

Q:

 I’ve joined. Now what?

A:

Welcome to our group! One of the best ways to become familiarized with HCHF is to jump right in and attend an event! To sign-up for an event, click on the calendar to view upcoming events and sign-up for an event on the calendar.

Q:

There are no events that fit my family's schedule.

A:

Organize your own event! The admins of this group are here to facilitate, but we rely on our members to contribute to the group by helping to organize activities.

Q:

What is the HCHF Co-op?

A:

HCHF Co-op is a cooperative learning opportunity for children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. We meet every Friday from August-May over the course of two semesters. Class registration takes place twice a year and students must be enrolled prior to attending classes. This is a cooperative effort. There will be a pooling of our resources and skills. Everyone must contribute so that this co-op can be a success. Prices of classes are determined by the teacher to cover the cost of supplies. There is also a registration fee every semester.

Q:

What if my child is in preschool or younger?

A:

Families that do not have a child over the age of 5 can participate in the group by scheduling playdates, field trips, and even classes at each other's homes. Only families with at least one child 5 years of age or older may enroll in co-op. Nursery and preschool classes are provided for younger siblings. Babies are welcome to stay with mom throughout the day.

Q:

Do I have to stay for all class periods?

A:

No. You may register for as few or as many classes as you like. We require families to attend sumbibazo and strongly encourage families to stay for lunch to fellowship and get to know each other.

Q:

How am I expected to help if I take part in the HCHF Co-op?

A:

Since this is a true co-op and is meant to be a pooling of talents, we need everyone's help! If your child is enrolled in 1 class, you will help or teach 1 class. If your child is enrolled in 2 classes, you will help or teach in 2 classes. If your child is enrolled in 3 or 4 classes, you will help or teach 2 classes.

Q:

Do I have to be present the whole time my children are at the co-op?

A:

Yes. In order for your child to participate, you must be present the entire time your child is at the co-op. You may not drop your child off.

Q:

What should I do if we have to be absent from co-op?

A:

If you are the main teacher and can't make it to co-op, you need to ask your assistant teacher to teach and you must find a substitute that will help out in class. Leave lesson plans for the assistant/sub to follow. If you are the assistant teacher, you need to find someone to fill your place.  Our policy is to limit absences to no more than three times per semester.

Q:

What are the expectations for my children at the co-op?

A:

Children are expected to be prepared for class and respect the teacher and follow directions. It is expected that everyone cleans up after him/herself after lunch and before leaving.
