Greg Baxter has earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa. He is currently an aerospace engineer at Triumph Aerostructures in Tulsa as a subject matter expert in the analysis of cracks within metallic wing structure (the study of fracture mechanics). He has traveled throughout the US and abroad participating in testing, training, and engineering fatigue and fracture conferences. He has volunteered at the Tulsa Engineering Challenge for several years. He has taught High School Physics, High School Chemistry, High School Physical Science, and Middle School Engineering & Robotics with CHEER in the past. Mr. Baxter is looking forward to teaching the sciences that he is passionate about!
Susie Baxter earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Tulsa. She has been teaching in a multitude of venues to a wide variety of ages for over 22 years. These opportunities have included lead teacher in a preschool classroom, private piano lessons, group dance classes (preschool to adults), and of course, homeschooling her four boys since 2008. Susie has taught a variety of science and elective classes at Co-op since 2016. She also assists her husband, Greg, when he teaches upper-level science classes at CHEER co-op. The Baxter Family is a science-loving family and enjoys getting their hands dirty learning about all of God’s amazing creation!
Penny earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has been a professional artist since 1997. Her experience includes murals, theatrical sets, and book illustrations. She also teaches art privately to groups and individuals, with classes in composition, oil painting, watercolor painting, and drawing. Currently, she teaches at Cornerstone Tutorial Center, Christian Home Educators Encouragement Resource (CHEER), and in her studio.
Cassie Carrillo has a B.S. in Dental Hygiene, an A.A.S. degree, and has been a licensed dental hygienist in the state of Oklahoma for 19 years. She is active in the dental community as well as in her church. She has homeschooled her two children for 8 years and enjoys finding fun ways to encourage learning. Besides being a tooth enthusiast, she considers herself a science lover, buff, aficionado, enthusiast, nut, nerd, fan, addict, etc.
Mrs. Ford has a B.S. in Environmental Science with Professional Option from Oklahoma State University and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from the University of Tulsa. Dr. and Mrs. Ford own Indian Springs Animal Hospital where they see a variety of pets and observe animal behavior first hand. She has a passion for science and encourages students to use logic and research to learn about the world around them. She also has a passion for teaching students the skills they need to write well and succeed in written communication.
Jyl Griffin has a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from OBU. She has 5 children ranging from 21 years – 7 years old. She has homeschooled for sixteen years. She is the one who says “pick me” for preschool- younger grades in VBS and teaches kids at church along with her husband.
Born and raised in a homeschool family, Mrs. Gunderson has a built-in passion for home education and hands-on learning. She is the mother of two precious girls Kylie (age 8) and Acelynn (age 6). Her family will be beginning their 4th year as part of the CHEER family this fall and she couldn’t be more excited to be stepping into a teaching role. Her aim is to have God be the center of learning so all things, big and small, point our big God. She places a lot of value on the love of learning and making learning easy to love. She graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology from Wichita State University, but prefers chasing her kids as opposed to chasing the bad guys.
Ronee Jordan has been joyfully homeschooling for 25 years. Although she majored in mathematics, her passion of teaching is for the social studies courses. Being raised a “military brat” and later serving in the US Army for 13 years, Mrs. Jordan has been afforded the opportunity to live in and/or visit many states as well as many nations. This birthed in her a love for both Geography and US Government. Her law enforcement background while serving gave her much opportunity to study the US Constitution. Her deployments to other countries gave her the opportunity to serve, protect, and defend the freedoms our fore-fathers had a passion and vision to proclaim and secure for such a time as this.
Mrs. Mostrom has a B.A. in English with a minor in journalism from the University of New Mexico. She
has taught Comp II as an adjunct for Tulsa Community College and has tutored TCC concurrent
enrollment students, primarily working with the Composition students. She teaches group Literature &
Composition for Jr High & High School homeschooled students, and also works as a private tutor. Tami
has a passion for literature and for teaching students the skills they need to write well and succeed in
