CHEER Co-Op Teachers

CHEER Co-Op believes that the teachers we choose must be of the highest integrity. As homeschool families, we strongly believe that the adults who have influence over the lives of our children must be Godly men and women. James 3:1 says, “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”

The most integral portion of an agreement between CHEER Co-Op and our teachers is our Statement of Faith. For each of our families, this Statement of Faith is the foundation in which we endeavor to instruct our children through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Every teacher will be required to read this Statement of Faith and must sign an agreement form stating that they agree with the Statement of Faith in order to be eligible to teach at CHEER Co-Op.

It is not CHEER's goal to integrate the Word of God with worldly standards and teachings, but to distinguish the Word of God from them. As is taught in Psalm 1:1-3, “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.” (NASB)

CHEER Co-Op does not have an “approved list” of curriculum. Teachers have discretion to use a plethora of curriculum choices or to even use their own created ones. What is required, with curriculum choices, however, is that the “spine” and intent align with the Word of God and with CHEER's Statement of Faith. Some courses (such as High School Composition) will inevitably need to use some secular supplements as students prepare for college writing. Parents will always be given the material list ahead of time so that they can decide whether that material is appropriate for their student before signing up for a class. All science classes are taught from a Biblical Creationist Young Earth perspective. All curriculum, materials, and supplements have been submitted for approval to the CHEER Co-Op Team and final approval from the CHEER Steering Team.
