Building Trades Tour Series - Plasterers (Flint)

Add to Your Calendar: 10/23/2023 10:00 10/23/2023 12:00 America/New_York Building Trades Tour Series - Plasterers (Flint)
The Building Trades Tour Series will be a series of field trips to the training centers for the different building trades.  We will visit a training center, hear about their programs, and possibly do a few hands-on projects.  This is an excellent way to check out all the opportunities available for good-paying careers in the trades that do not require college.  Building Trades Apprentices earn while they learn and that is not modeled in any other occupation.

The different skilled trades available are boilermakers, bricklayers, carpenters, cement masons, electricians, elevator constructors, insulators, ironworkers, laborers, operating engineers, painters and glaziers, plasterers, plumbers, pipefitters, roofers, sheet metal workers, sprinkler fitters, and steamfitters.

This tour will take us to Michigan's Plasterers' Training Center located in Flint.  We will hear about the Plasterers' apprenticeship program, observe current apprentice training, and make some small molds.  This will take one-and-a-half to two hours, starting around 10 a.m.  Transportation will be arranged among parents. Minimum 6 students needed for this event. Ages 12 and up. You do need to log into your Lansing HEART account to register for the event.
