The Downtown Aquarium welcomes home school students and families! Explore the Aquarium exhibits with your family for a discounted rate, participate in an engaging classroom program, and enjoy visits from animal ambassadors.
Pre-registration is required by 4 PM on February 28th. Complete the included registration form and submit with payment to reserve your spot! Both form and payment must be here by the deadline, not postmarked. No discounted payment at the door will be accepted – any tickets purchased the day of the event will be full price through the Ticket Office.
CLASSES
**Due to space constraints in our classrooms, we strongly encourage only the registered student remain in the classroom for programs ages 7 and up. Please plan ahead! **
Tide Pool Treasures (3 YRS – 6 yrs)
Come with us on a treasure hunt to discover some of the amazing critters that live in tide pools. We will use poetry, movement, and props to explore the ways these animals survive in their specialized environment.
Fabulous Fish (7 yrs – 9 yrs)
Fish are equipped with amazing adaptations. Using a “Fabulous Fish” costume, students will observe both physical and behavioral adaptations that enable fish to survive.
Creepy crawlers (3 yrs – 6yrs)
We have more than just fish at the Downtown Aquarium! Learn about some of the creepy, crawly animals found around the globe and what makes these cold-blooded creatures a unique addition to the animal kingdom.
Wild about water (10+ yrs)
Water, water, everywhere! Explore the special properties of water while discovering why all life is dependent on this unique substance. Through a series of STEM experiments, students will discover the different and fascinating characteristics of water and watery environments.
Sensational sharks (3 yrs - 13 yrs)
Sharks are sensational! Students will learn about how sharks use senses like sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch to help them survive in the ocean. This class is intended for families with students of multiple ages to learn together, so all children in the classroom must be registered and willing to participate!

Habitat Highlights (7 yrs - 9yrs)
Join us as we hike up to the Alpine tundra, trek through the rainforest and then dive into the deep sea. Uncover the secret adaptations that animals in each of these habitats have to survive in their special habitats.
SQUID: Inside and out (10 yrs+)
Squid are equipped with amazing physical and behavioral adaptations. In this dissection class, students will learn about the unique characteristics of this clever invertebrate by looking both inside and out. Hands-on participation required!
CORAL Communities (7 yrs – 9 Yrs)
A coral reef is a colorful neighborhood home to many different animals. Find out if coral is an animal, plant, or mineral! Learn with us what it takes to be a coral and why so many creatures live together in one place.
Aquarium: The Inside Story (10+ yrs)
Look behind the scenes at the chemistry, biology, and technology of keeping thousands of aquatic animals healthy and a million gallons of water habitable. Learn about the Nitrogen cycle and filtration!
