Wendy Clayton Bio
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Todd, for the past 25 + years and we have 4 children - all 4 have graduated high school from our homeschool.
My desire to teach children and the joy in seeing them come to an understanding of what is being taught began before I even had my own children. It continued when we were fostering children as young adults and the children needed extra help to get caught up in school and lots of instruction at home in other areas. The Lord then blessed me with my own children and allowed me to homeschool them formally beginning in 1999. Over the past 20 years I have had many opportunities to serve my children and the community through various homeschool groups, homeschool co-ops, church classes, leadership opportunities, student exchange programs and much more.
I strive to help the students love learning. I try to incorporate activities and multi-media whenever possible to really help the students understand what they are learning. Teaching students to love learning as well as to know how to seek out the information they will need now and in the future is the best foundation we can give our students.
I am beginning my fourth year of teaching at LEAP Class Day Academy. I previously taught classes for High School and Middle school students at TIW Academy for 3 years including courses in MS and HS World History, MS and HS American History, HS Government/Economics, HS World Geography, HS World Religions, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, MS Physics, Physical Science, British, World and American Literature, and Music History/Appreciation. I have taught many other classes and subjects over the past 20 years for all ages of students. Some other classes I am teaching currently or have taught in the past are Robotics Challenge, Drama Improv, hands-on science and building classes, Literature/Book analysis classes, current events, and many others.
I served on the Steering Committee for the SHINE-Supporting Homeschoolers in the NorthEast Homeschool group for 17 years. I am currently a Local Coordinator with CCI GreenHeart which is an Exchange Student organization. I have served as Local Coordinator for the past 9 years. I am currently serving as Financial Director for Ugandan Orphan Childcare Ministries which is a non-profit organization focused on helping the children in Uganda. I own my own business teaching people about using essential oils that I have been pursuing for the past 6 years. I served on the Board for the Texas Children’s Choir for 3 years as Treasurer and Communications Director. In the past, I led an area-wide group for KONOS users providing support and training to those using the KONOS curriculum. I have extensive experience working in medical offices in various administrative positions I have held off and on over the past 19 years.
The Lord has instilled in me a love to help teach and train people in so many areas. I look forward to getting to know your children this year!
