I am a devoted lover of Jesus, happily married and a tried and true homeschooler. I home educated my four children for a total of 26 years. My two older children have graduated from college and are currently working. Gabriel is a computer programmer and Isaac is a networking specialist. My two younger children are still in college. Autumn is at A&M studying Mechanical Engineering and Jacob is at Arizona State University studying Finance.
I have taught various courses at the SHINE co-op, such as American Sign Language (ASL), computer programming and logic. My favorite has been ASL. I was fascinated with the language when I saw an interpreter signing his worship at a church service. From that point on, I decided I wanted to incorporate that as my expression of worship. When my two children were in their teens I took ASL 1 & 2 at SAC. Once my oldest started driving, I again devoted myself to homeschooling. When my youngest decided to do his dual credit at Lamar University at the Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities in Beaumont, I returned to SAC to further my training. I have taken nine courses in the ASL department (ASL 1, 2, 3, 4, Visual Gestures, Intra Lingual Skills, Greek and Latin Roots, Fingerspelling, Intro to Deaf Community) passed my Mid-Program review and now in the second portion of the program. My goal is to graduate in May 2018 with an AA with a concentration in ASL and also be awarded a Deaf Support Specialist Certification.
