Karen Argust Bio
I am a single mother of two beautiful girls ages 32 and 8 and a grandmother of five. I adopted my oldest when she was 10 and my youngest when she was 2 ½. My youngest is also one of my five grandchildren.
I was born outside Detroit, Michigan but by age five we were living in Denver, Colorado. I am the eldest of five children. Colorado is where I lived until 2015 when I retired and moved to Texas.
I worked in Finance at Lockheed Martin for nearly 30 years. Other employment included positions in bookkeeping, accounting and payroll for construction and home builders.
I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver. I just recently completed a three-year bible study curriculum at Faith Bible Institute. I have dreams of completing the first degree I pursued right out of high school, which is music education. I have completed three years of studies in this pursuit.
In addition to directing children’s choirs, I have sung in church and community choirs. During college I also taught flute lessons. Currently I am an active member of First Baptist Church Universal City, where I am a choir member. I also am a member of the Praise Team and the hand bell choir.
As a Girl Scout, whose mother was our leader, I learned to sew my own clothing in 4th grade. I enjoy sewing still although raising an active 8-year-old takes up much of my time. I also enjoy many other types of crafts like crocheting and needlepoint.
I am excited to share my knowledge with young people and watching as they explore their full potential.
