HMNS Classes
MASK POLICY UPDATE:
HMNS will no longer provide stickers for a maskless medical exemption. Patrons in need of medical exemptions will be required to wear a face shield. If patrons with medical exemptions do not have a face shield, they will need to go purchase one or wear the disposable mask on hand at the museum. Everyone above the age of 10 must have on a facial covering at all times while inside the museum. The HMNS policy is in line with the city/state rules, and the policy is also in compliance with the ADA.
Classes this month (must be signed up to attend):
Grades K-2:
- 12/16 - Optics - classroom 6/7
Grades 3-5:
- 12/16 - Texas Wildlife - classroom 4/5
Grades 6+:
- 12/16 - Age of Exploration - classroom 2/3
ON CLASS DAY:
Please try to be inside the museum at least 30 minutes prior to class start time. Check in with museum staff at the Group Check-In at the HMNS Box Office, and you will receive your Chaperone Sticker. Let the staffer know you are with Deseret Homeschoolers. You can ask to purchase any necessary discount tickets at this time. If there are large school groups, politely work your way up to the Box Office to check in. Please use the elevators near the Paleontology Hall to go to the basement. Stairwells are blocked off to the general public/ patrons without tickets to Body Worlds, and the elevators will be the easiest way to access the Lower Level. Please do not enter classrooms until the instructor is present. When the instructors are ready for students to enter, they will open the classroom doors. You may enter at that time. We will need 2-3 parents per class as chaperones, so please stay and help if you are available. Only 3 chaperones will be allowed in each class due to social distancing.
If you can't attend this month, you can post your open class spots in our private Facebook group for families who would like to use them.
