7th-12th grade General Supplies and Lunch

For online classes:

Students will need access to a computer and internet during the scheduled class times.  A few classes will pre-record the lesson and take feedback online, so students will be able to do the class anytime, but others will be Zooming during the scheduled time and expect students to be there and interact.  Our first week (9/15) will not be a normal class, but will be an important orientation week where each class will meet during the normal class time  and each teacher will be giving you directions for his/her class.  Our online classes are not view only classes, but they require a response from the students; homework will be assigned and expected to be turned in in a timely manner.  Directions will be forthcoming.

All  in person class students will minimally require:

  • a backpack or school bag
  • pencils (please sharpen before coming each week)
  • a pen
  • paper and a notebook that has a place for handouts (most teachers prefer 3 ring binders with pocket inserts)

 We also recommend they have:

  • a small pencil sharpener
  • scissors
  • hand sanitizer
  • Water bottles as the water fountain will not be available.

Specific supplies and/or curriculum for each class are listed on the class's page.

Lunch Time for in person classes at HSA:

  • Each student will need to bring a lunch bag or lunch box.
  • Our snack bar will be open, but offerings will be limited.  Please bring proper change ($1 bills and quarters), so we do not share as many germs and can interact faster.
  • We will be ordering PIZZA for lunch, but it will be different this year!   We will be ordering the "Huge Slices" from Perri's Pizza.  They are like two normal slices and come in their own box, so no one will be touching the food.  The cost is $4.25/slice of Pepperoni, Buffalo Chicken, or Cheese.  Please bring your money in an envelope with your name and order on the outside of the envelope.  If you would like to order a full 16" large pizza, the cost is $12, and the two options are pepperoni or cheese.  Orders should be received by 10 am.  If you will not be at HSA until the second period, please text your order to 585-415-1340 before 10 am.
  • Students will not be able to use the refrigerator or microwave, so pack any cold items with a cold pack and do not send food that needs to be heated.
  • Students should have a water bottle; we can not use the water fountain this year!  Students are not allowed to keep their water bottles on the table during class time as they can ruin the paperwork.
  • Students will eat in designated areas, and must clean up their eating area when they are finished.
  • Please talk to you kids about food allergies, and how some children must be kept away from certain food like dairy or eggs. We have a number of children with life-threatening food allergies including allergies to tree nuts and peanuts. Because tree nut and peanut reactions are often very severe, we have chosen to care for those children by being a NUT FREE ZONE. Please do not send ANY food items to HSA (lunches, snacks or treats) that contain ANY peanut or tree nut products. (Foods that are prepared in factories that process nuts are okay, but the item should not include nuts itself).
  • Students may NOT eat during class (unless the teacher suggests it).
  • Snacks can be eaten between classes, but they should be non-messy snacks.
