Michelle Malawey To All Instructors

Michelle Malawey is a professional violinist, strings teacher, and swing dance aficionado.  She earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with emphasis in Violin Performance, and is an active performer with the American Kantorei, Mira Piano Quintet, and in many other musical theater, symphonic, chamber and liturgical settings.  She teaches private violin lessons in her home studio and directs an after-school string program at Saint John Paul II Preparatory School.  Mrs. Malawey's study of dance began at age 3 with ballet, tap, and jazz; she continued through her teen years and served as an assistant instructor at Dance Art Studio.  In college she shifted her area of focus to swing dancing, through which she met her husband Phillip, with whom she still enjoys dancing and teaching.  They teach Beginning/Intermediate and Advanced Swing classes at the Chesterton Academy of St. Louis and have taught introductory swing workshops at Saint John Paul II Preparatory School, ARCH Co-Op, and for parent groups at Chesterton and the Saint Austin School.  Mrs. Malawey is the mother of five children, ages nine through twenty, and has been homeschooling or hybrid-schooling for 15 years.  She is thrilled to be able to share her love of music and dance with the Catholic homeschool community.
