Miss Anna Grawunder To All Instructors
Anna is from Clearwater, Florida and moved to the Lynchburg area to attend school at Liberty University. She was raised on the sunny beaches back home and loves kayaking in the springs, going out fishing, and swimming in the ocean. Virginia has shaken that up a bit though, and now she loves hiking, camping, and watching Blue Ridge sunsets with friends.
Anna majored in Spanish at Liberty University, where she is currently finishing her business degree with concentrations in Supply Chain Management and Humanitarian Aid. She has studied Spanish for 7 years and first found her love for Spanish while working with recent immigrants at her church in Florida. Last summer, Anna lived with an Andalusian family in Seville, Spain and studied under various Spanish university professors in advanced grammar, literature, and history courses. She had the opportunity to travel throughout the country, learning about the rich culture and being immersed in the language. She also has experience living and working in Puerto Rico, where she worked with the North American Mission Board. There, she helped lead field teams in reconstruction efforts of homes impacted by recent hurricanes, served in a Spanish church plant, completed research on poverty alleviation, and worked to spread the gospel in rural neighborhoods. She believes in language acquisition through immersion and hopes to bring the satisfaction and excitement of being able to understand, speak, read, and write another language to her students.
Anna strongly believes in the value of pursuing bilingual language development, regardless of one's desired profession. She has witnessed firsthand the impact of sharing the Gospel and discipling others in their native language and believes that Spanish is vital not only for overseas missions, but also for reaching many of our neighbors here in the US. She also believes in the Spanish learning benefits of career diversification, communication skills, enhanced travel opportunities, and cognitive development.
Anna is so excited to be teaching Spanish I and II and cannot wait for all the year holds!
