Alyson Wagner is a native Oregonian and a West Coast gal who grew up in Portland suburbs. At 19 years old, she left a basketball scholarship at a small college in the Pacific NW to transfer back east to attend Liberty University. Within two months after arriving in Lynchburg, the Lord convicted her of her personal sin and she chose to follow Jesus Christ. She competed as a member of the LU NCAA Division I Women’s Track & Field team during her three years at a LU and received a Bachelor of Science in Church Ministries, with a cognate in Biblical Counseling in May 1991. 

Mrs. Wagner met her husband Jim at LU and they have been married for 35 years. They have one daughter whom they home-schooled for 11 years, and she attended ACA for science classes (2007-2013). The Wagner's have been members at Heritage Baptist Church for 30 years, where Mrs. Wagner has served on various ministries teams, while teaching Bible Study and mentoring/counseling teens and ladies. Her hobbies include reading historical fiction, live theater, history, travel, decaf coffee and cheering for the LU Men’s Basketball team.

Mrs. Wagner has 20 total years of secondary classroom experience, including two years at University Christian School in Jacksonville, FL, where she taught American History and Civics, Geography, Psychology and Bible. She taught for 11 years with Heritage Home Educators; classes included Speech & Debate, Rhetoric & Worldview, Literature & Writing and Ancient & Modern World History. Some of these years overlayed with her years at ACA. This is Mrs. Wagner’s 12^th year as a tutor at ACA teaching: World & United States History, Classical European & American Literature, Worldview & Rhetoric. She has also enjoyed 12 years coaching high school girls’ basketball & two years of girls’ softball. Currently she is a Co-Founder/Director of City on a Hill Youth Theater, a local community theater company created for home-schooled teens. COAHYT celebrates their 15 season this year.
