Sophia Jantomaso To All Instructors

Señorita Sophía (as she likes to be called by her students) graduated from Liberty University in May 2022 with a BA in English, a minor in Spanish, and a State Licensure of Education. Sophia is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in English at LU and teaches as an instructor of first year English Composition courses. Sophia has spent multiple weeks of her summers throughout high school and college in Mexico. Last summer, she had the opportunity to participate in an immersion program in the capitol city of Ecuador for two months, living in a host home and teaching at a bilingual middle school. She will be returning to Ecuador as a leader for the same trip this upcoming semester. Sophia has been fascinated by language-learning, and Spanish culture particularly, since high school and sees this as a major part of who she is as a person and a teacher. Sophia holds a philosophy of education that believes students learn best in closely connected relational settings – between teacher and students, students and students, and students and material.
