Statement of Faith and Purpose

Adopted August 1991

We are the Saline County Christian Home Education Association.

Though religious affiliations of the various families represented in this organization vary,
we are nonetheless completely united in our belief that

  1. There is one God and Eternal Father who is Himself uncreated, yet Creator of all that is, visible and invisible, and that;
  2. His Son is Jesus, manifest in the flesh and risen from the dead, fully God and fully man, only Savior of mankind, sitting now at the Father's right hand, and that;
  3. The Bible is the sole "God-breathed" record of God's dealing with man from the beginning, and contains also divine direction for all of man's needs as well as knowledge necessary to man for his eternal salvation, and that;
  4. The first holy, human institution created by God from the beginning of time was the Family.

Understanding, then, the sanctity of the Family relationship and that the preservation of it, in keeping with God's Laws, both secures to us His blessing and guarantees a firm foundation upon which our state and nation may flourish, we, the Saline County Christian Home Education Association, have come together for the purpose of providing mutual advice and encouragement to those who are like-minded, especially to those families who are committed to providing both religious and academic education to their children in the home environment. We have chosen to educate our children in the home because of our belief that we, as parents, are ultimately accountable to God for rearing our children "in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord." We understand that even the best academic education may be destructive to the child's character and may inflict damage with eternal consequences if it lacks balance provided in the wisdom that comes from knowledge of God's word. That is, it is our belief that the true worth of all knowledge must be determined solely by how well that knowledge may be utilized in daily service to God as He has revealed Himself and His purpose in His word.
