Welcome to C.H.E.E.R. (Christian Home Education Enrichment Resource) Homeschool Co-Op! We are thrilled that you are considering joining us on our educational adventure for the coming semester! As a parent-led organization, commitment is of the utmost importance so we want to answer as many of your questions as possible, to be sure that we are a good fit for your family, before you commit to the upcoming semester. We are a low cost, parent-led, enrichment co-op with Jesus Christ welcome in every activity. What that means is:
Our parents are our teachers. We keep our cost low by working together to support each other as homeschooling families, rather than paying a salary for a professional educator. Drop-offs will not be allowed without prior written consent per semester. Each Parent-Teacher member of C.H.E.E.R. Homeschool Co-Op is required to participate in at least two classes per semester. We strongly encourage each Parent-Teacher to take one class “off” and fellowship with other Parent-Teachers for the hour. We also require that Parent-Teachers pitch in to help with clean-up after Co-Op meetings. We do not want to leave any evidence of our activities after our meetings and it’s too much work for any one person to do it all.
The registration fee is charged per family, per semester and is due at the semester planning meeting. Late payments will be accepted for 2 weeks with a penalty. Payments later than 2 weeks will not be accepted. Discount credits may be offered for participation in various areas of the co-op function. The registration fee allows us to reimburse a $25 consumables budget per class when receipts are turned in, purchase insurance and website hosting, as well as covering overhead expenses for various special events and activities. The cost for participation in other optional activities throughout the year varies, but we strive to keep the cost as low as possible for everyone.
We do not teach from an established curriculum. We often share resources and seek out free, creative resources on the internet. Each Parent-Teacher will teach with a different style and a different preference for resources. Each class will offer a unique learning experience for the students. We feel that this offers a beneficial, balanced setting for students who may receive much of their core education from the same person or people with the same teaching style. As an enrichment Co-Op, we will not teach any core subjects in whole. Our focus will be on the ‘electives’ classes such as music, art, etc. or other special focus areas that are more enjoyable in a group setting such as chemistry labs, civics, elections and voting, etc. We are tailoring our highschool classes to count toward the more rigerous transcript requirements, so their schedule is subject to change.
We meet once a week, on Wednesdays, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ten weeks in the spring and ten weeks in the fall. It is extremely important that all Parent-Teachers be present as scheduled in order to have all of the planned classes available to the students. Because we are parent-led, commitment is EXTREMELY important for our Co-Op to function. If we don’t have enough Parent-Teachers, then we can’t have classes. If there are enough Parent-Teachers to support it, we hope to offer classes for all grades between Nursery and High School each semester. Grades may be combined as the situation requires.
The per-family registration fee is non-refundable to encourage commitment and it is used to determine the classroom supplies budget as well as covering other expenses of the operation of our Co-Op.
As we grow we continue to expand to also offer a year-round Homeschool group for field trips, events and activities. We haven’t quite reached that vision yet, but our options are plenty if we have enough committed families on board to keep us moving forward.
We operate as a ministry of Craigs Baptist Church and as such, we are bound by their policies and standards. If there is a discrepancy between our policies and theirs, theirs supersedes ours.

All membership requests must be manually approved by a site administrator and access may not be granted to the website outside of enrollment periods. Your membership request will automatically place your family on the waiting list for the next available semester. When your membership is approved you will receive an email with instructions to complete your membership with C.H.E.E.R. Homeschool Co-Op.
