FAQs

Pre-Registration

Q:

I'm brand new. How do I join Connections?

A:

The information you'll need to know before you join will be in the Pre-Registration FAQs. Then click on "Join" at the top of the page and request membership!

Q:

Who may register?

A:

Students may enroll in any Connections class if they are homeschooled. Students who also participate in a public school/parent partnership like Northshore Networks or the HEE are also welcome to attend. Likewise, students who have been previously homeschooled and are concurrently enrolled in Running Start are eligible for Connections’ classes.

Connections Guidelines
All families who register agree to abide by the guidelines in the Family Guide, and be respectful of the Statement of Faith and Beliefs while on campus, regardless of their religious or non-religious affiliation.  A New Family FAQ download  and General Questions are available as well. Our Fees Policy explains the payment process for all fees. Finally, in order to ensure that Connections runs smoothly, every family at Connections is required to perform a job while on-site.

Q:

When does registration happen?

A:

Registration for the following school year opens shortly after spring break, and closes July 1. Registration opens again on August 1, and remains open throughout the school year. New families may join at any time for the current year until March 1. The expectation is that enrollment commitments are for the entire school year, no matter when a student joins a class.

Q:

What classes are available?

A:

All current class offerings, including descriptions and prerequisites are listed on the main website, as well as under Class Registration in the registration site. Note that we meet both Mondays and Wednesdays, but that each class meets just once per week, with the exception of Beginning Band. All classes have an age range (age as of September 1st), rather than a grade level.

Age Exceptions

Age exceptions within one year under or over the posted age range (age as of September 1) may be granted by the instructor.

Age exceptions outside the one year age range are rarely granted, but must first be agreed to by the instructor, and then voted on by the board. Both the instructor and the board will carefully consider emotional, physical, social and cognitive needs and maturity levels of both the requesting student and current class before granting an exception for unusual circumstances.

Contact the instructor directly if you would like to request an age exception.f the instructor grants the age exception, you’ll need to obtain an email from the instructor and forward it to [email protected] with a request to enroll your student into the class. The registrar will then place your student into the class, and the treasurer will email you with an invoice update. Payment must be received within seven days.

Waitlist
Some of our classes are full, but you are more than welcome to place yourself on the waitlist. Being on the waitlist does not commit you to enrolling and paying for the class should an opening become available. (See the related question in the Registration FAQ for more information.)

Q:

What are forums and classifieds?

A:

Forums are a way for Connections families to ask questions and have discussions with other Connections families. You are not required to participate in these forums, however, when you join Connections, you will be asked how you want to receive notices for these forums. You may change your options later, but you'll need to select something to complete your registration form.

Instructors may also use forums to communicate their students. Class forums will only be visible to the members of the class.

We also have a classifieds forum to post items for sale or in search of. You will also need to choose if you would like to see these posts and how often.

Q:

How do I drop a class?

A:

Q:

I'm on a waitllist. How will I know if I've gotten a spot in the class?

A:

When a student drops a class, the registration board member will remove the student from the class, and move the first person on the waitlist into the class. The registrar will then email the family to make sure they want the open class spot. Tuition and fees must be received within 7 days after receiving your invoice.  Failure to do so will result in the student being dropped from the class.  If the family no longer wishes to enroll in the class, the spot will be offered to the next student on the waitlist.
