Computer Code (1 time workshop)

Add to Your Calendar: 12/13/2016 17:30 12/13/2016 18:30 America/Chicago Computer Code (1 time workshop)

We know everyone is busy with holiday prep and events, but wanted to let you know about an awesome FREE “Hour of Computer Code” workshop/class for your high schooler coming up on Tuesday, December 13th from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at the Homelink building in Room 9 (Homelink is located in the St. Andrew Catholic School at 309 E Hoffmeister Ave, St. Louis, MO 63125). It is definitely worth trying to fit this opportunity into your busy December schedule!

Shane Klein offered the popular workshop/class at the Homelink location (and at some private and public schools) last year and we got great feedback from those that participated! He is a computer science major at Rolla’s Missouri University of Science and Technology, and has been authorized by Microsoft to offer the class for free (Shane is also a former homeschooler and Homelink student!). Here is the class description:

The “Hour of Computer Code” is a workshop to introduce students to basic computer science concepts. Students will learn to write code to solve Minecraft-themed puzzles. There will giveaways from Microsoft, and drawings for free prizes, including a Bluetooth speaker and a cellphone power bank.

The class is for high school students but some 8th graders might be able to attend if ready for a high school level computer class. Participants should bring their laptop or tablet. Please make sure the devices are charged if possible since electrical outlets might be limited.

The class is free and open to non-Homelink students and non- SHARE members, BUT REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED so we can plan for the room size and prizes. To register, go to the SHARE website (www.sharehomeschool.com) and let us know the student’s name, age, grade, and contact information. Please also include a parent name and contact info.  If you are already at the calendar, just scroll down to register.
