Everyone can sing, and everyone can learn how to sing well. This class will introduce young singers to proper singing technics for breathing, facial positioning and posture. Through age appropriate songs, we will sing (one at a time) fun folk songs, children's classics, new pieces and old pieces, while learning simultaneously the music magic of proper diction, voice placement and expression of vowels. We will discover how to map a melody for direction. We will sing intervals so we can sight read music. We will learn the solfege system of reading music. Basic music notation will be introduced as well as music symbols and rhythm patterns. Together we will hone our ears to tuned in pitches, move our bodies to a well constructed vocal phrase and enjoy fun and games to teach all of these concepts. Depending upon the status of COVID, I hope that we can present a mini-concert toward the end of the year where we can share solos and choral pieces with the rest of our co-op family. If you love to sing and want to learn to sing even better, join us because "Everybody sings...and everybody can sing WELL!"
