Kids Yoga

Grades: 3-5 (flexible) 

Teacher: Sarah L Weeldreyer

In each class we will move through a sequence of yoga poses structured to help us strengthen and stretch, while becoming more mindful of our bodies. Each class will include some talk about the anatomy involved in the movement practice (which muscles and bones are working in the poses), and also include some quiet time at the end of class with a guided meditation. Some topics that usually come up may include feelings and emotions, physical awareness (proprioception, muscular engagement, names of muscles, etc), breathing and how it affects how we feel. There won't be mandatory homework, but my intention is to give the kids tools in body and mind to move through the world more smoothly, while connecting mind and body. Grade level is flexible. Must be able to follow directions and sit quietly when asked.
