Students in 7th - 12th grades are invited to join us for this two part acting workshop.  NOTE: We are offering THE SAME two part workshop on different dates. The workshops will be identical. Please choose the dates that work best for you and sign up for only one option.

Part 1: How To Bring A Character To Life!  We will explore how to take a character from the page and breathe life into him or her in a believable way. Physical and vocal techniques will be practiced through games, exercises, and lots of play.

Part 2: Scene Work: Dialogue, Objectives, Tactics, and Subtext! Direct instruction will be given in acting basics and fun and games will ensue to give students lots of practice.

November 12th:
Audition With Confidence! Learn tips and tricks to help you prepare for auditions for our spring show and build confidence for wherever the stage may take you!

We are offering a two part acting workshop this fall in addition to an audition workshop. All workshops will be held at Del Cerro Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall.

Acting Part 1: September 24 or October 1 @ 1:45 - 4:00
Acting Part 2: October 22 or October 29 @ 1:45 - 4:00

Audition Workshop: November 12 @ 2:00 - 4:00

Information about a mandatory parent zoom meeting, auditions, callbacks, rehearsals, tech week, performances, other parent meetings, wrap party, and watch party are COMING SOON!

Auditions, Callbacks & Rehearsals will take place at New Life Presbyterian in La Mesa.

Tech Week Rehearsals and All Performances will take place at another location to be decided.

Two part acting workshop in the fall $25 per student.
Audition workshop $15 per student.

Audition fees and show fees will be announced when show title and rehearsal & performance dates are announced. Stay tuned. They will not exceed $225 per student.

The purpose of the HCS Drama Club is to give our students opportunities to perform in a theater setting while developing their communication skills, confidence, and God-given talents. While refining their abilities, we will encourage meaningful, Christ-centered relationships so our students can together be lights to the world, having the self-confidence to effectively communicate the truth of Christ and His salvation.

The HCS Drama Club is made up of an all student cast and a crew comprised of students and parents. Being a part of the HCS Drama Club is a rewarding experience that requires commitment, enthusiasm & team work! No experience needed, all are welcome who want to be a part of the club! We will be focusing this year on providing age appropriate instruction in acting, scenic, costume, and prop design and construction, and other areas of theatre where we have both student interest and parent mentors.

Cast members are required to commit to twice weekly rehearsals as well as working on memorization of the script, music, and choreography (if applicable) outside of rehearsals. Cast members are also required to attend all tech week rehearsals and performances.
Our crew members will meet weekly as needed and must attend all tech week rehearsals and performances.
All parents of Drama Club students are required to participate in the club by taking on a parent job. These jobs may include time spent during regular rehearsals, tech week rehearsals, and/or performances. Parents must attend monthly meetings and read and respond appropriately to communication sent out over Band.
Parents of students under the age of 10 are required to attend and directly supervise their children during all rehearsals.
