Outdoor Hour-Making a Field Guide #1000HoursOutside

Add to Your Calendar: 01/19/2022 14:00 01/19/2022 15:00 America/Chicago Outdoor Hour-Making a Field Guide #1000HoursOutside

Nature study is getting an update for the new year. I am hoping to create more of a Charlotte Mason-style study. A good resource for parents to follow along is the Handbook of Nature Study. To start with I recommend parents read pages 1-8. This is not required and is meant for parents to read to themselves.

In this study, I recommend you read the section on your child's chosen collection.

For this study, we will be learning how to make a field guide, focusing on the child's chosen collection area. Notebooks and pencils are essential. Magnifying glasses are encouraged.

Nature classes consist of a lesson, possibly a craft activity, a nature walk, and time at the playground after. This event is open to members and non-members. Meet at the parking lot next to the pool.

Suggested items to bring: A notebook to use as a nature book, drawing or painting supplies, and water bottles.
