CFS Escondido Code of Conduct

I. Our Core Heart & Purpose
We want to build a place where families can grow together and support one another in
their homeschooling journey. These guidelines help us establish a safe, kind, and
supportive community. Our main goal is to honor God in everything we say and do (1
Corinthians 10:31).

II. Ways Students Can Show Christ's Love
A. Using Kind Words
• Build Each Other Up: Use words that encourage and help others feel welcome
(Ephesians 4:29).
• Keep It Clean: Avoid coarse language, mean teasing, name-calling, or hurtful jokes.
• Protect Reputations: Talk directly to people instead of venting or gossiping behind
their backs.

B. Respectfulness
• Help Your Teachers: Listen carefully and follow instructions from teachers and
parent volunteers the first time they ask (Hebrews 13:17).
• Include Everyone: Be welcoming to everyone. Bullying, fighting, or leaving people
out on purpose does not reflect God’s love.
• Classroom Courtesy: Raise your hand to speak and be encouraging to others.

C. Stewardship
• Respect the Building: We are guests here. Obey all site rules, be respectful of
property and landscaping.
• Clean Up: Pick up your trash, clean your area before leaving, and help keep the
restrooms and lunch areas tidy.
• Accidents & Damage: If something breaks by accident, tell an adult right away.

D. What to Wear
• Modest & Comfortable: Wear comfortable clothing that fits well, keeps
undergarments fully covered, and fits a casual learning environment.

E. Trust & Technology
• Do Your Own Work: Be honest in your schoolwork.
• Put Phones Away: Keep cell phones and tablets turned off and in your backpack
during class, unless a teacher invites you to use them for a specific activity.

III. Parent Community Roles
A. Jumping in to Help
• Team Effort: This co-op only works because we do it together! At least one parent
needs to actively serve in their assigned volunteer or teaching role each week.
• On Time: Please help classes run smoothly by arriving on time and being prepared
for class.

B. Resolving Problems Piece by Piece
• Talk Directly: If a misunderstanding happens between children or parents, please
talk privately and kindly to the person involved first (Matthew 18).
• Ask for Help: If you can't work it out privately, reach out to a co-op leader to help
mediate. Please avoid venting on group texts or social media.

IV. How We Handle Challenges
When a student struggles to follow these guidelines, we look at it as a chance to disciple
them and point them to Christ. We use a step-by-step approach:
1. A Friendly Reminder: The teacher or assistant will chat privately with the child to
redirect them.
2. A Quick Break: If the behavior continues, the child will take a break from class to
sit with their parent so they can reset.
3. A Team Chat: If it becomes a repeating issue, leaders, parents, and the child will
meet up to figure out a supportive plan.
4. Safety Boundaries: To protect everyone, any physical safety risks or extreme
defiance will mean taking an immediate break from the co-op while leaders review
the situation.

By joining CFS Escondido, we agree to do our best to follow the code of conduct for the school year.
