Scholar Retreat - Out of This World Scholars

Date – Time

September 5 - 7 – 12:00 PM

Additional Information

Scholar retreat has a long history of being a part of the scholar experience. It allows scholars in the same schools, as well as other local TJEd based and Christ centered schools, to grow their relationships, build trust between scholars and mentors, learn scholar skills and get ready for the new year.

This year Scholar Retreat will be hosted by FILA at Camp Zion in Belfair, WA and the theme will be "Shoot for the Stars!" with an outer space theme.  As usual Scholar Retreat will include team building activities, scholar skill building, a simulation, a fun evening activity, a t-shirt, opportunities for the schools to get to know each other, and more.

Check in will be from 12:00pm - 4:00pm on Thursday, September 5 with free time until 4:00pm.  Kids who arrive during that time frame may spend time at the lake (with an adult chaperone), participating in other activities at the campground, or just hanging out with other scholars.

All participating scholars must be 12 years old by September 30th to attend.  Parents are welcome to be chaperones although an additional cost to cover food will be requested if that parent is not a scholar mentor or principal mentor.  T-shirts for adults will be $15.  If numbers allow, adults will be able to stay in an adults only cabin as a chaperone.  We ask that all adults that attend participate as a chaperone and help as needed.  This is also a great opportunity for adults to build relationships both within their own school and between other schools as well.

Cabins will be sorted by gender and schools.  We want all schools to be able to bunk together so that nobody feels left out or alone.

Due to an increase in prices of everything, Scholar retreat will cost $50 per child and that will include a t-shirt and meals.  Adult Chaperones will cost $15 to cover food and they may request a t-shirt for $15 as well.  Adults who are a Principal Mentor or teaching a scholar class in the 24-25 year are highly encouraged to attend scholar retreat and may opt to not pay the $15 fee for food and lodging (if avaialable)
