K-6: Orienteering & AT Museum Field Trip

This class will happen in conjunction with the 7-12 Orienteering class.
The K-6 students will learn about Orienteering as they explore using a map and compass. Each student will build a compass, learn how to take a bearing, read a map, and complete a short orienteering course. Program length: 1.5 hours. We will take lunch at the picnic tables under the pavilion from 12p-12:30p and then the students will tour the Appalachian Trail Museum while the older students take their orienteering class. If you finish with the AT Museum before the older students are done with their class (which is likely), you may roam the beach, swim in Fuller Lake, walk the trails or visit the General Store across the street.
Note: Masks are required inside all park buildings.
The bathrooms/bathhouses will be open for your convenience however the concession stands are closed for the season.
This is a free field trip however a "no-show fee of $5" will be billed to your account if you miss the class without contacting the coordinator ahead of time. Note there is NO cell service at the park so an email at least 2 hours before the class is requested.

We will meet at the Furnace Stack Pavilion just passed the Park Office (down the road and around the corner). You may stop at the park office, 1100 Pine Grove Rd, Gardners, PA 17324 for directions to the Pavilion if you need.
