This class will happen in conjunction with the K-6 Orienteering class.

The 7th-12th students will tour the Appalachian Trail Museum while the younger students take their orienteering class. If they finish with the AT Museum before the younger students are done with their class (which is likely), they may roam the beach, swim in Fuller Lake, walk the trails or visit the General Store across the street. We will take lunch together at the picnic tables under the pavilion from 12p-12:30p and then the 7-12 students will learn about Orienteering as they team up and compete in the park’s permanent orienteering course, collecting the letters at each point, to solve the puzzle. Students will learn how to take a bearing, read and orient a map, then race through the 1-mile orienteering course. Program length: 2 hours.

Note: Masks are required inside all park buildings.

The bathrooms/bathhouses will be open for your convenience however the concession stands are closed for the season.

This is a free field trip however a "no-show fee of $5" will be billed to your account if you miss the class without contacting the coordinator ahead of time. Note there is NO cell service at the park so an email at least 2 hours before the class is requested.
