Join us as we are given a guided tour of Crystal Cave, known as PA’s Greatest Natural wonder discovered in 1871! Our one hour tour will begin with a movie in the Crystal Cave Theater, presenting the history of PA’s first show cave and then guides will lead us 125 ft underground while pointing out and explaining all that nature has created. The endless number of crystalline formations on the walls and the ceiling are what gave Crystal Cave its name.
The cave temperature is a comfortable 54 degrees, however, a light sweater or jacket and closed toe shoes are recommended.
If we have more than 30 people signed up, we will break up into 2 groups. While waiting for the rest of our HAHA members, or during some free time, you may walk on their FREE 5/8 miles Nature Trail, which takes about a ½ hr. Or you may choose to pan for gemstones in their sluice. The bags of gemstones can be purchased at the gift shop but be sure to identify yourself as being with the HAHA group so you can get the discounted rate of $5.50/bag.
Bring along a brown bag lunch and we will make use of the picnic tables at Crystal Cave before heading to Hawk Mountain.
Note: Because Crystal Cave is about an hour and a half away from Harrisburg, we are also offering a program and hike at Hawk Mountain to finish off your day. You do NOT need to attend both events therefore you must sign up for each event separately.
If you are attending both events this day, please be aware that there is a 30 min drive between the two venues. You will need to leave Crystal Cave by 12:15p in order to participate in the Hawk Mountain Program & Hike.
