Learn about time from the beginning of, well, time. How DID people tell time before the invention of the clock? From prehistory to the space age the items on display will delight visitors of all ages. Be inspired by the artistry and science of timepieces and marvel at the inner working of timekeepers of all shapes and sizes. With more than 13,000 timepieces from around the world, adults and students alike will be enthralled.

Although most of the pieces in the Museum are designed to be used on land, there are some that address the challenge of navigating the sea. The famous H-4 chronometer, invented by John Harrison, solved the much-puzzled-over and often-life-threatening problem of finding longitude. The chronometers on display are cousins and descendants of H-4 and tell the harrowing stories of adventures at sea.

And don’t forget to check out the 1570 German table clock, the atomic clock that will be accurate to within a second for millennia, the James Bond watches, and, not to forget the importance of the heavens, there is also a clock that tells the time on Mars.

Just be sure to give yourself time to sit for a spell and enjoy the magic of the Engel clock featuring not just time-telling but music and moving carved figures as well. It runs daily at noon and at 2:00p.

The museum is going to try to have a docent available to take us around but their docents are all volunteers so they are unable to guarantee that we will have one.  If there is no docent, the museum's exhibits are well-documented so you should not have difficulty figuring out what is what.
