8+: Autobahn Physics Lesson & Racing

We will have 40 minutes of classroom time talking about Newton’s Laws of Motion, momentum, and the mechanical aspects of the carts. We will have a safety briefing and do a track walk – to see how momentum factors into the track design.
Then we will use our new knowledge and drive the carts around the track potentially reaching speeds of up to 50 miles/hr!
There is a limited number of adults that may join as chaperones and race one another after the students are finished with their race. (Chaperones and students do not get to race together)
We have been allowed to lower the age limit from 13 down to 8! The 8-12 year olds must sign up as jr racers as they will need to be in different carts. (I don't make the rules, I just pass them on!)
We must have 20 ppl – students and adults combined – in order to hold this event. So spread the word!
NOTE: closed-toe shoes are required. All students under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the online waiver or be onsite to sign the waiver in person. This event will only be canceled if there is severe weather that day that causes the public schools to be closed.
