Get in the Christmas Spirit as we get a guided tour of the Fort Hunter Mansion and a self-guided tour of the Festival of Trees, Toy Train Exhibit, and Fort Couture.

Fort Hunter Mansion Tour – Enjoy a guided tour of this elegantly restored mansion overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna River. The mansion will be decorated for the holidays in keeping with Victorian traditions – fresh greens, fruits, dried flowers and more. Catch a glimpse into the lives of the three families that occupied the home: The McAllisters, The Boases, and the Reilys during this tour. At the conclusion of the tour, visit our museum shop for a souvenir or holiday shopping.

Toy Train Exhibit – A magical HO gauge model train display will be set up in the barn. Presented and operated by Keystone Model Railroad Historical Society, visitors will see passenger trains, freight trains, and scenes reminiscent of Pennsylvania attractions and countryside. There is something for everyone as lights flash, buildings glow, sirens sound, cattle moo and Ferris wheels turn.

Festival of Trees – Local garden clubs go all out decorating Christmas trees on display in the historic Tavern House. Sponsored by the Harrisburg Area Civic Garden Club, the trees are beautifully decorated with handmade ornaments.

Fort Couture – Tucked away in the Stone Stable, you can view a twist on holiday decorating using dress forms creatively turned into holiday decor. These highly imaginative displays are created by volunteers, Friends of Fort Hunter, and local businesses using fresh and faux greens and other imaginative materials.

Our group will be divided: during the first hour, half our group (group A) will be given the guided mansion tour while the other half (group B) will have time to go thru the barn. After an hour, the groups will switch.
