Becca Wierwille is a local author from Northumberland County who writes clean, faith-friendly, contemporary middle grade adventures. Her book, Road Trip Rescue, stars a girl with a limb difference as the main character who takes a wild road trip to find her dog. The character’s experiences are based on some of the author’s own experiences as someone born with half of her right arm.
Becca’s books are for kids ages 8-12 (or readers of any age who are young at heart!) who love reading true-to-life adventures and friendship stories with quirky characters, but who also might feel alone, isolated, insecure, or not sure how they fit into the world. Her goal in writing is to show kids that they are wonderfully created for the unique adventures in their lives.
How can you take pieces of your real life—or things from your imagination—and create a story? Becca shares her story creation process with young readers and encourages them to create stories from their own lives and imaginations. This presentation includes:
Details about Becca’s story creation process
Tips for creating your own stories
Group writing exercise
An opportunity for young readers to workshop with each other and practice creating their own stories
Q&A time at the end
