Are you a new homeschooler in Pennsylvania and not sure where to start? Are you getting conflicting information? Pennsylvania is one of the most regulated states in the nation for homeschooling and it can be intimidating to get started. Let us walk you through the ins and outs of getting started legally and the requirements you will need to meet. We will also talk about homeschooling generally and how it works. At the end, we will open up the floor for YOUR questions.

Topics include:
  • How to file to homeschool legally,
  • What is required by law,
  • Testing, portfolios, and evaluations,
  • What counts as a school day,
  • How to find curriculum and resources,
  • What style of curriculum should you use for your family,
  • And so much more (we cram so much into this hour!)

Christy Rucker is a writer for the homeschool community, a homeschool mentor, and has homeschooled her two sons for the last eight years. She writes for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, the CHAP website, and various homeschool social media accounts. She is publishing her first book,The Simple Homeschool, in August of this year. Her joy is to mentor other homeschoolers to help them get started on their homeschool journey and then support them as they keep going. You can find Christy on Instagram at @christyrucker.
