Archaeology - How do we know what we know?
Tour of the tavern- Students will tour the tavern and in an age appropriate way will learn why the Dill Family settled here, where they came from, how they lived, how life changed from one generation to the next.
Firing - We will see a black powder rifle demonstration, as well as fire starting, and discuss the role of both in everyday life.
Food ways - What people ate, how food was sourced and made. We will see a hearth fire demonstration and learn what a bake oven is.
Trades - We will see demonstrations in carpentry and blacksmithing. The demonstrations take place in a wheelwright shop - they will not demonstrate what a wheelwright does, but will discuss it. The roles of a tavern keeper and distiller will also be included in the tour.
Tin punch activity - Students will do a tin punch activity and talk about whitesmithing.
Colonial clothing - All of the presenters will be in 18th century reproduction clothing and can show or answer questions about why each piece was worn, and what it took to make it or where it came from.
