You May Know What Happened On The Battlefield . . . But Do You Know What Happened To The Civilians In Town?

Travel back in time with a guide in period attire as you walk through the Shrivers’ meticulously restored 1860 home to learn the other side of the story - the civilian side of the Battle of Gettysburg. Connect to the past while you listen to the story of George, Hettie, Sadie (7) and Mollie (5) unfold as you move from room to room to appreciate what life was like before, during, and after the Civil War. There is detailed talk of the battle and two of the rooms have been “destroyed” to portray what the Shriver family found when they came returned home.  Although all ages are welcome, the tour is geared towards 5th grade and up.

This field trip is part of a “Build Your Own Gettysburg Tour" You can add the Jennie Wade House and/or the Seminary Ridge Museum and Civil War Medicine program.

Covid Info: Masks are required inside the building. In signing up for a HAHA field trip or class, you are agreeing to our covid waiver. The waiver is viewable on our homepage.
