All Ages: Dobbin House Field Trip #2

Date: May 12, 2021
Time: 9a-10:15a
Cost: FREE
Ages: All Ages
Location: 89 Steinwehr Ave, Gettysburg, PA 17325
Sign up: ALL attendees – both student and adult.
Contact: Beth Mellott: dagwood5@hotmail.com

We will be divided into groups of 10 and taken on a journey back in time. Enjoy a FREE, guided tour of the oldest, most historic house in Gettysburg – the Dobbin House. The house was built in 1776 by the Rev Alexander Dobbin. His stone home spans three centuries of American history, from the Revolutionary War through the Underground Railroad, the Civil War, and beyond. View all the decorated rooms while interacting with period antiques to understand how the home’s occupants lived during the 18th and 19th centuries. We will learn how the Dobbin family planned to defend themselves against Indian attacks during the late 1700’s and hear what the Zeigler family experienced while living in the Dobbin House during the Battle of Gettysburg.

NOTE: If you sign up for a free field trip and then are unable to attend, you must let the coordinator know prior to the time of the trip, or a $5 no-show fee will be billed to your account.

Covid Info: Masks are required. In signing up for a HAHA field trip or class, you are agreeing to our covid waiver. The waiver is viewable on our homepage.
