Child Safety Policy

GENERATIONS CHILD SAFETY POLICY

In order to insure that we are abiding by the safety standards for Crossroads Fellowship, and that we are providing a safe environment for our families, please follow these policies:

On Campus Events (Christmas Party, Fine Arts Festival, etc.):

  1. Student/Adult Ratio: All on campus gatherings must have a minimum of two adults present in each room being used. No adult or teen should be alone in a room with a child (unless they are the parent /teen sibling of the child).
  2. Supervision: All children must be under the constant supervision of their parents or an assigned surrogate parent in the rooms assigned for the event. No wandering through hallways and rooms.
  3. Mobility: If it is appropriate for children to go places without adults, they must either be with a same gender buddy or a group of 3. They must also obtain permission from their parents or adult in charge.
  4. Bathroom policy: Children of all ages need to notify their parents (or adult in charge) when they go to the restroom. Children 11 years of age and younger need to take a same gender buddy to the bathroom with them. Children 12 years of age and older may go on their own after notifying the adult.

On Campus Co-ops and Clubs (Legacy Enrichment Co-op, SNAP Academic Co-op, etc.):

  1. Student/Adult Ratio: All classes need to have a least two adults present at all times. No students should be alone in classrooms. No adult or teen should be alone in a room with a child (unless they are the parent /teen sibling of the child). In addition, note the following ratio requirements:
    • Nursery (less than 2 y/o): 1 adult to 3 children.
    • 2 year old class: 1 adult to 5 children.
    • Preschool (3-4 year old class): 1 adult to 7 children.
    • K-5 th: 1 adult to 10 children.
    • 6th -12th: 1 adult to 20 students.
  2. Class Rotations: Teachers should escort their children between classes to the next scheduled rotation, snack room, opening/closing room etc. as directed in the SNAP or Legacy Co-op schedules.
  3. Teens: When 6th grade and up are not in class, they are expected to either be with their parent or in the supervised teen room. They may go to the announcements/snack room as needed.
  4. Bathroom policy: We ask that all parents encourage their children to use the restrooms before and after class. If your child needs assistance in the restroom, please make arrangements with their leaders. If grade school children (K-5) need to use the restroom during class, they will be sent to the restroom with a same-gender buddy. 6th grade and older may go unaccompanied, but return within a reasonable time. Teachers should check bathrooms and watch out for children as needed.
  5. Background Checks: All Co-op participants working with children are required to have a background check that are renewed every 3 years. This will be done in phases. You will be contacted with info.

Off Campus Events and Clubs (Teen socials/service projects, Field Day, Field Trips, Family Camping, etc):

  1. Student/Adult Ratio: All off campus gatherings must have a minimum of two adults present. No adult or teen should be alone in a room with a child (unless they are the parent /teen sibling of the child).
  2. Supervision: All children must be under the constant supervision of their parents or chaperones.
  3. Mobility: If it is appropriate for children to go places without adults they must either be with a same gender buddy or a group of 3. They must also obtain permission from their parents.
  4. Bathroom policy: This will vary depending on the location. Each family can determine their own policy that will reasonably ensure the safety of their child/children.
