What is SASCH?
SASCH stands for Smyrna Area Support for Christian Homeschoolers.  We are a group of Christian parents who home educate our children in (and near) Smyrna, Georgia.

SASCH was started in the 2007-2008 school year with approximately 10 active families with children ranging in age from Pre-K to late elementary.  For the 2010-2011 school year we had grown to about 30 families with most of our children in 3rd grade.  Now in 2016-2017 we have 50 families range in age from 6 wks to 16 years old!

Our goal is to provide support and encouragement as we journey together in home educating our children.  We do this by offering Mom's Night Out, Field Trips, and Social Gatherings.

Mom's Night Out
We offer one Mom's Night Out a month.  Typically, we meet for casual conversation and encouragement.  Sometimes we invite a speaker to encourage the group.  We also meet quarterly for prayer.  We try to offer a variety of styles in order to meet the diverse needs of our homeschool moms.

Field Trips
The purpose of our field trips is to provide both educational and social enrichment for our children.  Only children of SASCH members are invited to attend.  All SASCH members are encouraged to help plan one field trip a year.

We typically schedule two field trips a month.  Examples of past field trips include:

  • Cagle's Dairy
  • Center for Puppetry Arts
  • Delta History Museum
  • High Museum of Art
  • Pumpkin Patch Farms
  • Smyrna Post Office
  • Smyrna Fire Department
  • State Capitol
  • And much, much more!

Social Gatherings
We have several social events that include the whole family:

  • Back to school BBQ including dads and children
  • Christmas party for moms and dads
  • Summer pool parties
  • Holiday parties for children
  • Emrichment days for art, science, cooking, sports and more
