__________Frequently Asked Questions____________

What is St. Joseph's Workshop Children's Business Crafts Fair?

The Children's Business Crafts Fair is a one-day market that gives children the opportunity to showcase their skills, ingenuity and problem-solving skills to create something new and market it for their very own business.

We acknowledge the vitally important and needed role our Faith plays in this entrepreneurial process.

Does my child have to be Catholic to participate?

No. The St. Joseph’s Workshop Children’s Business Craft Fair welcomes all applicants.

What is the cost or entry fee to participate?

The entry fee is $10 to be turned with the child's application.

$5 will be returned when the child completes their business day.

How many businesses will you accept?

We will accept up to 10 businesses.

How do I apply?

Applications must be emailed to nwiholyfamily3@yahoo.com

*Add to the memo, Child’s Business Crafts Fair.

Can I apply as a group?

Children working together as a group should submit one application that includes each child’s information. No more than 3 participants per business.

What if someone else has the same business idea?

We will let the later entries know if another applicant has a similar business idea so the later entrant can decide what to do. In general, market dynamics will be allowed to play out.

What will the set-up be? What is provided?

The Fair will be an indoors event with booths. Each business will be given a table with 1-2 chairs. Tablecloths will not be provided. Please bring your own tablecloths and decorations.

Will electricity be available?

Yes. Please bring your own extension cords and notify us before the event if you need to be near an outlet.

What are the rules?

This event is a child-led process. It is designed to give children ages 5-17 the experience of selling a product or service themselves.

Parents may not sell or promote their child’s product or service.

Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set-up, customer interactions, and sales.

We expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.

Children should be the ones to fill out the application to participate, parents may help only if necessary.

What is on the application?

The application asks kids to think through some important details regarding their business and the process of start-up.

Question like the following will be asked:

  • What is the product or service you plan to sell?
  • What price will you charge for each?
  • How much will each product/service cost you?
  • How will you pay for your start-up cost?
  • If someone is helping you with start-up cost, how will you pay them back?
  • How will you advertise your business before the fair?
  • At the end of the fair how will you know your business was successful?
