FAQs

General

Q:

What is Eliora?

A:

Eliora means "the Lord is my light."

We are a biblically-based academic co-op that was created over 30 years ago to enrich the homeschooling learning experience by developing community within families, increasing in wisdom spiritually and academically, glorifying God spirit, soul, and body.

Q:

What do you believe?

A:

We aim to meet family goals and individual academic needs as a group while furthering our families' spiritual growth and relationships. Our teaching and curriculum reflect a Biblical Worldview with a basis in salvation through Jesus Christ alone; a creator God who designed man and woman in His own image, joined them in marriage, and created the universe in a true 7 day/24-hour period.  While we do not expect prospective members to align with all our beliefs, we will always teach from this perspective.

Q:

Where and when do you meet?

A:

We meet at a local church in Littleton, Colorado weekly on Thursdays from September to May.

Q:

What ages can participate?

A:

We are open to ALL ages - from birth to 12 grade!

Q:

What types of classes to you offer?

A:

Since we are an academic co-op we offer every core class and optional electives such as art, music, P.E., and Spanish. Class options change every year depending on the needs and wants of the students and parents involved. We prayerfully work together to decide what classes will be offered each year.

Q:

Who teaches the classes?

A:

Since are a parent-led co-op, all classes are generally taught by moms, dads, and even grandparents! We do hire out for elective teachers who are specialize in the subject they are teaching.

Q:

What is expected of the parents?

A:

We are parent-led and not "drop and go." At least one parent is expected to participate, teach, and be on site each week.

Q:

How much does everything cost?

A:

There is no membership fee to be in the co-op, however, families must purchase curriculum and pay for additional miscellaneous supply expenses, optional field trips, and optional electives. We hire outside teachers for elective classes such as Spanish, music, art, etc.
