What is a Secular Homeschool Co-op? |
A: |
Being a secular homeschool co-op means that we operate without any specific religious or faith-based orientation. Our co-op focuses on providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all families, regardless of their individual beliefs or backgrounds. We do not endorse or promote any particular religious or faith-based curricula or activities. Instead, our programs and resources are designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, ensuring that all members can benefit from a diverse and welcoming community. |

Q: |
Can I send my child to R.I.S.E. Co-op without a Registered Parent or Guardian? |
A: |
Typically, a parent or guardian must be registered with R.I.S.E. Co-op and attend with their child. However, we understand that situations may arise where you need to be absent occasionally. In such cases, you can send your child to the co-op as long as you have arranged for a designated adult to be responsible for your child. Please contact R.I.S.E. Co-op at least 24 hours in advance to receive approval for this arrangement. The designated adult will need to sign and comply with the same code of conduct and membership agreement rules as registered parents and guardians. |
Q: |
Do parents have to volunteer at R.I.S.E. Co-op? What does active volunteering mean? |
A: |
Yes, parents or guardians attending R.I.S.E. Co-op with their child(ren) are required to volunteer. The attending parent or guardian will be assigned to assist in specific classes for 2 periods as well as during break times. Additionally, adults are expected to remain at the co-op for the entire session to lend a hand when needed and to help with clean-up afterward. While parents are not required to teach, it is encouraged as a great way to contribute to our community. Active volunteering ensures that our co-op runs smoothly and that all children receive the support they need. |
Q: |
Are children with special needs, behavioral challenges, or significant learning barriers welcome at R.I.S.E. Co-op? |
A: |
Yes, children with special needs, behavioral challenges, or significant learning barriers are welcome at R.I.S.E. Co-op, regardless of whether they have an official diagnosis. We strive to accommodate diverse learning needs and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive within our community. However, please understand that we are an organization of parent volunteers, and we may not be able to meet every family's request. We aim for all classes to be a positive experience for everyone involved. Instructors, along with the R.I.S.E. Board of Directors, will need to make judgment calls regarding whether a student can be successful in a class without requiring resources that may detract from the learning experience of other students. Parents and/or guardians will need to be available to provide extra assistance when necessary to support their child’s special accommodations. |
