FAQs

Q:

What is your school calendar?

A:

Generally we operate from mid-August through mid-May, on a 6 or 7 week schedule followed by a week off.  We also honor most major holidays; and registered members have access to our online calendar.

Q:

What are your school hours?

A:

We operate Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.  Morning drop-off starts at 8:15am, and afternoon pick-up is at 2:30pm.  We do not offer before or after school care.

Q:

When is school closed?

A:

Our school follows the inclement weather closures of Cabarrus County Schools, and will notify parents (via Slack) when the school will be closed (weather or otherwise).

Q:

Do you provide refunds for any scheduled school days on which the school is closed?

A:

No, as the instructors will still be involved in your child(ren)'s education and will continue to be paid for days we are scheduled to be open but have been forced to be closed.

Q:

How does your school communicate with parents?

A:

Our primary vessel for communication is Slack.  We also utiilize our HomeSchool-Life account to send messages, most often regarding financial issues related to your family's account.  Questions regarding your family's financial impacts may be sent to our Treasurer at FoundationsClassicalChristian@gmail.com , and they will respond as quickly as possible.  Our FCCA Director also has a dedicated email account shown below.

Q:

What are your fees and tuition?

A:

We are committed to providing a quality service at reasonable expense to enrolled families.  Specific tuition rates are dependent on how many children from your familiy are enrolled, and at what grade level.  We offer a small discount when multiple children from the same family are enrolled.  We do have three (3) standard non-refundable fees that are applied annually per family:

  1. Annual Registration Fee is $450 per family if paid prior to June 1st ($500 after June 1st)
  2. Annual Website Administration Fee is $20 per family.
  3. Annual Supplies Fee is $50 per family and helps cover bathroom supplies and copy paper

Q:

Do you have a book fee?

A:

No we do not.  Instead we expect the parents to purchase all required curriculum books.

Q:

How do we pay our fees and tuition invoices?

A:

We utilize a website sponsored by HomeSchool-Life.  Invoices are sent to each family for their specific obligations.  Payments may be made directly through the website; or you may avoid the site imposed 3% transaction fee by providing a check written to Foundations Classical Christian Academy.

Q:

What about tuition, do you require us to pay the full year upfront?

A:

No.  We understand that money does not grow on trees, so offer families two payment options.  Those who wish to pay the full amount upfront will be provided a 5% discount on the total year's tuition.  We also offer the ability for a family to make nine (9) equal interest-free payments from August through April; however, it should be noted that the full annual tuition amount is expected, and that late fees will be applied if tuition is not paid by the 10th of the month.

Q:

What if something happens and I have to withdraw my child(ren) during the school year?

A:

Our expectation when your child(ren) is/are enrolled is that they will be with us for the entire school year.  As such, we hire staff accordingly and expect each family to honor their full year tuition obligation.  We are not a heartless entity, and will be happy to discuss any specific situations that may cause you to withdraw your child(ren), and the implications to your tuition obligations.

Q:

Do you accept the Opportunity Scholarship?

A:

No, we do not.  When agreeing to accept the Opportunity Scholarship (or any other state issued funding) we would be required to maintain additional records for each child (immunization, attendance, etc.) and administer state required testing.  Some of these mandates are key reasons why parents have chosen to home-school their child(ren), as they do not want the state government involved.  Additionally, to ensure we meet the state's expectations and requirements we would have to hire additional staff and thus increase our tuition rates accordingly.

Q:

How much homework is assigned/provided for Thursday and Friday?

A:

That is dependent on what grade your childe is in, and where they are in their learning progress.  Our instructors welcome conversations about a specific child's progress and/or their homework assignment levels.

Q:

Are there any required documents that we need to provide?

A:

Yes.  We must have the following documents before your child(ren) can participate in our school:

  1. a copy of your Notice of Intent (NOI) to Operate a Homeschool.  This is a document that you must file with the state declaring that you are operating an individual hommeschool for your chlld(ren).
  2. Emergency medical release form (we provide in your welcome packet at the beginning of the school year).

Q:

What are lunch options for my child(ren)?

A:

We do not provide any meals for your child(ren); however, we do have a Monday Pizza lunch program that you may enroll your child in.  Otherwise we expect each child to bring their own lunch and/or snack items on a daily basis.  We have a water station available, and some "emergency" lunch items available in the event your child(ren) 'forget' their lunch.

Q:

How can I as a parent get involved?

A:

There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year for parents to volunteer.   As opportunities develop we will share them via Slack.

Q:

Are grades given to students?

A:

Student assessments are provided each quarter, and A-B-C type grades are provided for 5th grade and higher.

Q:

What academic subjects will my child(ren) study?

A:

K-3rd grade study spelling, reading, math, science, and history

4th grade and up study math, writing, grammar, science, and history

Q:

Are there any field trips?

A:

Typically we do field trips 2 times per year.  Parents are informed via Slack when a field trip is planned.

Q:

I do not see my question addressed here, how do I get an answer?

A:

Please send your question to DirectorFCCA@gmail.com , and our Director will send you a response.
