Description:
We will be exploring our amazing world in 14 modules. We will spend approximately two weeks per module, which should leave us with margin each semester. This will be used for additional hands-on science investigations and/or the likely inclusion of some history and human anatomy, class presentations, as well as time for interested students to receive help in planning and preparing a science fair project at the end of April!
The goals for students in this class are as follows:
Practice the three keys to science: Observation, Experimentation, and Communication.
Use science process skills during hands-on investigations.
Read for understanding.
Dialogue with the teacher and classmates about science material to help form the habit of focused-attention and improve retention of information.
Practice organization, note-taking, outlining, and other study skills.
Keep a nature journal throughout the year.
Plan and execute a science fair project, if desired.
Work hard and have fun!
Prerequisite : Must have reading, writing, and arithmetic skills at middle school level. If uncertain, look at sample pages of the text online, then contact the teacher for consultation and approval to join class.

Spiral notebook that fits in binder or other lined &/or unlined journal (for nature study)
Access to printer, copy paper, and 3-hole punch
Access to Google Classroom
Zoom and Phone Policy : This class is considered an in-person class. Students will be allowed to zoom up to 2 class periods/semester due to illness, travel, etc. Additional zoom classes will require an additional fee and will be up to the teacher’s discretion. Students attending via Zoom will turn in homework on time and participate in class if able. Students are expected to be off phones during class and have them silenced.
