The Sioux Empire Christian Home Educators (SECHE) organization was founded in 2002 by like-minded home educators who desired a group where their belief and acknowledgement of God was an integral part of the organization.
Originally organized to support home educating families through educational and social activities, the organization is continually adapting to the needs of the members it serves.
The present focus is to sponsor the annual Christian Home Education Conference of South Dakota and monitor legislative actions, advocating as required, to secure and advance home education rights in South Dakota.
SECHE is an official member of the Home School Legal Defense Association and members receive a discounted HSLDA membership.
The corporation exists to support, encourage and advance Christian home education.
The corporation will promote and its board members, committee members and officers will believe and profess the following Statement of Principle:
Man was created by God in His image but has become inherently sinful and in need of salvation.
It is through Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead that man has the possibility of salvation.
The Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments) is the inspired and infallible word of God. It is the written foundation for faith and practice for believers. It is authoritative in theological concepts as well as in its geographical, historical and scientific details.
Marriage is a God ordained institution consisting of the union of one man and one woman.
The right of parents to direct the upbringing, education and care of their children (whether by blood, adoption or legal guardianship) is a fundamental right and a responsibility ordained by God.
